Dear Fellow Rotarians:
Your Rotary board met today and discussed where we currently are in our world and the status of our meetings. We’ve been notified that at least through the end of April, the Civic Center is under order to limit any groups to 5 or less, which will not allow us to resume our in-person meetings until at least May. However, we don’t know if that order will be extended, so we will be making decisions as we go.
For the good news however, we have decided to try to meet virtually. With the large size of our club we are a bit more challenged than some other small clubs, but we think we can do it. To that end, we are tentatively planning our first online, virtual meeting to be held on April 27 from 12-1 pm. We will be sending you more details as soon as we have the platform and speaker worked out. Please continue to watch your email and this newsletter for details. We are also planning to record the sessions so that if you are not available virtually for the live session, you will be able to watch later. Stay tuned!
In other news, the Board voted today to send out our normal Rotary dues invoices beginning May 1 for the period of July 1st through December 31st. However, due to the fact that we are NOT meeting live and we don’t know when live meetings will happen again, we are HOLDING on billing for meals. So, your invoice will look a bit different this time, and please expect to get another meal invoice later after we know when we will begin in-person lunch meetings. We do need to bill for dues as our Rotary International dues, which are paid on your behalf, are due on July 1. So, prompt payment of your invoice that will be received after May 1 will help us to be sure that we have the funds to pay the Rotary International dues. Of note, for our Club, that dues amount is typically about $10,000 for the entire membership.
Finally, to date we’ve ear marked all of our luncheon fees for the weeks that we have not met to the YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter. However, going forward, we are going to hold meal payments in our account to offset any potential costs due to our delays in invoicing. If it turns out we do not have those costs, we will earmark those funds for use in an upcoming Community Investment project.
So, stay tuned for more information on our first virtual meeting in late April. And,please, please, please practice good hand washing, social distancing and staying at home except for reasons absolutely necessary for your health and welfare. This is the only way that we will flatten the curve. In the absence of our weekly meetings, this is your chance to perform the ultimate “Service above Self”. Thanks for all you do, stay safe and keep our community safe.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Cynthia Persily
President

Other Ways to Make-up a Meeting:
1. The board unanimously approved another avenue to get additional credit for attendance. In addition to attending a committee meeting, doing an online make-up, or visiting another Rotary Club you can now get one meeting credit for every new member prospect/guest you bring to a regular Monday meeting. The credit will apply during the same quarter in which you bring the potential member/guest. This is a great way to both make up attendance and recruit new members into our club. Contact Paul White with questions.
2. To do a make-up meeting on-line, click the link below: Rotary Club Online make-up location: http://www.rotaryeclubone.org/The on-line system is set up to provide a written confirmation of the make-up to the person who actually did the make-up. The Member is then responsible for providing the confirmation to their Rotary Club Administrator. Please forward a copy of your confirmation letter to me debcoffman@suddenlink.net to receive proper credit, also check the weekly newsletter to see if I have listed your make up and name, if not this indicates that I did not receive your make-up notice.
