Newsletter Information for July 23, 2018

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Program Committee: meets each Monday following the general meeting. If you are interested in joining a committee, please consider joining the Program Committee. The objective of our committee is to secure dynamic speakers who are experts in their field & we are interested in your ideas for speakers and/or topics. If you’re unable to drop by our table, please contact me at corleen.patterson@gmail.com

Community Investment Committee: Is sponsoring a Toiletries Drive in July to benefit the Davis Child shelter.  We encourage you to bring items like toothpaste, antiperspirant, lotion, shampoo, and soap to our July meetings.  Pick up is also available from downtown Charleston locations.  Michelle Foster is the contact person for this drive.  She can be reached at 304-346-3620 or mfoster@tgkvf.org.

Charles-Ten policy update: You can now make a Charles-Ten announcement in the newsletter! Just get your $10 to Deb Coffman or the president before you want your announcement to appear in the weekly newsletter. Your $10 donation to the Rotary foundation gets you one announcement in a weekly newsletter. Use this as a chance to make announcements about your community events or congratulating your friends, family members, or fellow Rotarians.

Charleston Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship Drive Announced: Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. The Charleston Rotary Club is starting a Paul Harris Fellow drive to increase the number of Paul Harris Fellows in our club. If Rotarians want to accelerate their progress to attaining the recognition, starting July 1, 2018, the club will match the points you need to earn a fellowship or to get you to the next level. For example, if you have given $400 to the foundation already, you need another $600 credit to earn the recognition. In this example, if you give $300 the club will match your contribution with points and that will push you over the recognition amount to become a Paul Harris Fellow. Additionally, as an incentive to bring in new members, the club will donate points toward your next Paul Harris level for recruiting new members. Please see Casey Sacks (caseysacks@gmail.com) for further information.

Rotary District Assembly: August 11, 2018, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (tentatively) BridgeValley CTC.

New Memberships: We have two new membership structures. Please consider inviting a friend, colleague, or family member who might be interested in one of these two structures to our next meeting.

Corporate Membership: Semi-annual dues and meals are $253.00 every (6) months. Invoices are due December 1 and May 1 and are mailed at least 30 days in advance. New members joining in the second half of an invoice period will pay for their meals at the door until the following invoice period. Three employees from your Company will represent the Company in its membership.  This will include 2 employees and the CEO, President, Owner of the Company, Managing Member, or Managing Partner ("the Head"). If a Head is already a Rotarian or if no Head works in the Charleston area, the third employee does not have to be a CEO, President, Owner of the Company, Managing Member or Managing Partner. The Head will be invited (but not required) to speak to the club once within 24 months of activating the membership.  The Company pays the same dues and meal costs as is paid for individual memberships. If more than one of the three individuals would like to come to a meeting they will have to pay for any additional meals. The Company will collectively have the same attendance requirements as an individual member, which can be met by any one of the three individuals attending.
Young Professional: Semi-annual dues and meals are $190.10 every (6) months. Invoices are due December 1 and May 1 and are mailed at least 30 days in advance. New members joining in the second half of an invoice period will pay for their meals at the door until the following invoice period. This classification applies to individuals 39 and under at the time dues and meals are billed. Young Professionals are required to only meet half of the attendance requirements (must attend 25% of the meetings a year) but can attend as many as they like if they want to attend more.

Vandalia Reciprocity: We now have reciprocity with the Vandalia Club! Please feel free to visit the Vandalia Club at the Embassy Suites in the Athletic Club on Wednesday’s at 7:30 a.m. for their weekly meetings, free of charge.

Other Ways to Make-up a Meeting:

1. The board unanimously approved another avenue to get additional credit for attendance. In addition to attending a committee meeting, doing an online make-up, or visiting another Rotary Club you can now get one meeting credit for every new member prospect/guest you bring to a regular Monday meeting. The credit will apply during the same quarter in which you bring the potential member/guest. This is a great way to both make up attendance and recruit new members into our club. Contact Katie Capito with questions at katherine.capito@dinsmore.com

2. To do a make-up meeting on-line, click the link below: Rotary Club Online make-up location: http://www.rotaryeclubone.org/The on-line system is set up to provide a written confirmation of the make-up to the person who actually did the make-up. The Member is then responsible for providing the confirmation to their Rotary Club Administrator. Please forward a copy of your confirmation letter to me
debcoffman@suddenlink.net to receive proper credit, also check the weekly newsletter to see if I have listed
your make up and name, if not this indicates that I did not receive your make-up notice.
