During our weekly lunch on Monday, Denys Pavlov spoke to our group about his journey from Ukraine to the US.
He came to the US as a foreign exchange student in September 2021. Hosted by a family in Putnam County, Denys describes his first months in this country as “magical.” Then his home country was invaded in February 2022, and in his words: “Fear, devastation, anger, incomprehension, frustration, guilt and resentment occupied my soul. My family endured constant air attacks and a humanitarian crisis.” Due to those events, Denys was unable to return to his home in Odessa, and is completing his senior year at Winfield High School. ...
